A lot of members of the popular Deeper Life church are still stunned over a recent message from it’s General Overseer Pastor William Folorunsho Kumuyi.
Pastor Kumuyi while preaching during Sunday’s Worship Service spoke extensively about ‘The Word in A Transformed Believer’ where he openly chastised some sections of the church.
The 73-year-old preacher disclosed that some church leaders have bastardized the church’s doctrines.
He reportedly stated that most of the church doctrines were man made, and he created them, not that they were from the scriptures – the reason of which is to set people on the right path are now being transformed into the things of this world.
Seemingly angered by the situation, he said that most traditions that were borrowed into the church are going to be demolished.
He went on to go against the tradition usually observed by the Church’s marriage committee, which is peculiar to Deeper Life.
He asked the congregation of the church “Are we not conforming with the world.
Why are you dressing like of the world?”
He then called on the men to be in charge in their own home.
In his own words, “Women ministry is our own making, and if we find out that the women ministry is taking us into the world and we are helping each other on how to live like the world and marry like the world and deal with your husband like the world – if it is not helping us and if it is going to hinder us, we strike if off.”
“Before I leave, I mean before I go, I am going to remove everything that I set up, that I thought will help Deeper Life and make us Holy, make us sanctified, make us deep, make us deeper.
And I see it is not making us deeper, before I leave, I will uproot all of them and present to you a pure church before I leave.
“What am I afraid of?
I can only be afraid of the judgement of God, therefore whoever responds, praise the lord, whoever reacts praise the lord.
We are going to stand on the word of God.
“By the grace of God I am not going yet, but, before I go and I am telling you and all our leaders can hear.
I am not going to hand over Deeper Life to somebody who will come and destroy everything we’ve built up for years, because he’s man pleaser, women pleaser, never!
Somebody who will stand on this word and earnestly defend the faith once delivered unto the saints, that’s what we are going to do.
And the whole church will unite.
We are not looking for graduates, degrees- whoever!

“Whoever, will maintain that sanctification, Holiness without which no man shall see the Lord, Whoever will have backbone and be willing to stand faithful, sacrifice everything and bring to church to obedience to the word of God, that’s the kind of leader, God will raise up for Deeper Life after I am gone.”
While the sermon lasted, a lot of members especially women weeped like children.

This report is a bunch of lies. Pastor Kumuyi never ever said he'd destroy some of the doctrines he had set up. Do you know what doctrines are? They're rooted in the Bible. He only observed that if some of the bodies he had set up -he mentioned the Marriage Committee and Women's Ministry -failed to live up to the expectation, he would scrape them off before he left. He said that he had set up the marriage committee to help young people be guided throughout the marriage process, and that it was not in the Bible. So, how has it now turned into him destroying the doctrines he had set up? Do men set up doctrines? Men can set up dogmas but they are no doctrines. From today, Let God arise for his church.
ReplyDeleteDoctrines are man made and not rooted in the Bible as you said, it's a way of having checks and balances, but most time it doesn't work and if it doesn't you change them.

ReplyDeleteAll I know is that PST kumuyi is a great man of God.He has lived a life of Holiness and mentored millions of people. Just be careful about what you say whenever you see a post. Hear from him first and stop working by assumption.

ReplyDeleteGS, this is your fault, u thought that those doctrines which aren't conform to the Bible in the first place may improve sanctification and Holiness but is worse it.

Because God is not dealing with us at the level of understanding rather he is dealing with us at the level of revelation, and revelation gives you a knowing, but revelation doesn't make sense..., so i know what i do not understand, so don't ask me, let christian focus on christ alone and don't let us be enslave by doctrines, christ is the head of the Church, let show love to ourselves, let us not be doctrinal and denominational, the church of christ is one. ReplyDeleteIn fact , am not a member of Deeper life but a lover of truth, from my on view and as an exposed and experienced counsellor the marriage commenter had done a lot of havoc to many home and marriages, it is long over due for cancellation without wasting of time. It is pure human doctrine and it is not meant for non prophetical church like Deeper life church

ReplyDeleteIf he really said this, then I salute his courage. There is nothing wrong in making amends when you see that what you are doing is not helping the church.
ReplyDeleteIn fact it is wisdom to make a u-turn in such a situation. Some other persons will start thinking of what people will say and would rather prefer to move on with their mistakes than saving the situation.
If GS actually said that then that is a bold step and that is the way a true child of God should behave under such circumstance.

He was vibrant young preacher. He gave lessons of deeper Christian life which removed electronics like TV sets, cables, videos machines etc from peoples homes and lives; tagging it sinful and satanic.
ReplyDeleteDoctrines are teachings.when such teachings do not conform to Gods word, then you eliminate them.some certain protocols are put in place by church leaders to guide the brethren, but when such is not spiritually productive, they do away with them and institute new standards.I do understand that some church teachings allow for hypocritical living, if this is the case then its time to change it and make it comform with Gods standard.

ReplyDeleteGood one, let him teach his fellowers to love instead of discrimination and create disunity where ever they are. We are all sinners, no man is righteous, but if by His Grace, if one is close to God by surrounding himself to God, should use that grace to help others out instead of keeping mute, gossip or assassinate someone's character, instead of helping mould such person. Jesus came for the sinners and Gentiles not for the righteous. The next thing they quote is that the bible says "Do not be on equal yoke with unbeliever", and you allow such person to perish, when you know that a little financial help and preaching can turn the person's life around.
ReplyDeleteIn any organization without leaders, it will not yield result. Pastor Kumuyi set up marriage committee to guide the young ones and not that he added to the bible. The marriage committee leaders are supposed to guide the young ones and tell them what marriage entails but majority of them turned it to another thing. That is why he said if is going to hinder someone going to heave, he will make changes before he go. Why are we arguing over what is cleared and understable to us. Even as a person, if u are into something and is not working well, u can decided to change the pattern. Mean while, he never said he will change doctrine.
