Biography of Aimee Semple McPherson

Aimee Kennedy was born on October 9, 1890, near Ingersoll, Ontario, Canada. Her father, James Morgan Kennedy, was a struggling farmer. 
Her mother, Mildred "Minnie" Pearce was a former member of the Salvation Army (1865; founded by William Booth [1829–1912] as a religious organization with military structure for the purpose of bettering life for the poor and evangelizing the world).

Soon after Aimee's birth, her mother took her to the Salvation Army and dedicated her to God's service. Aimee's training was particularly geared toward religious work.
When Aimee was in high school, she began to question her religious beliefs.

Isaiah 53: 5, By His Stripes, We are healed! - What Does it Means?

Question: "What does it mean that 'by His stripes we are healed'?"

Answer: “Stripes,” (Isaiah 53:5; 1 Peter 2:24) in the language of the King James Version of the Bible, and in some others, means “wounds,” as seen in more modern translations such as the New International Version. These stripes were administered by whipping the bare backs of prisoners whose hands and feet were bound, rendering them helpless. 



The phrase “by His stripes we are healed” refers to the punishment Jesus Christ suffered—floggings and beatings with fists that were followed by His agonizing death on a cross—to take upon Himself all of the sins of all people who believe Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior. “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).

The whips used were made of braided leather, with pottery shards and sharp stones affixed to the ends, which tore open the flesh of the prisoner with each cruel swing of the whip. When we picture this terrible, inhumane form of physical punishment we recoil in horror. Yet the physical pain and agony were not all Jesus suffered. He also had to undergo the mental anguish brought on by the wrath of His Father, who punished Him for the sinfulness of mankind—sin carried out in spite of God’s repeated warnings, sin that Jesus willingly took upon Himself. He paid the total price for all of our transgressions.

Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the apostle Peter wrote, “He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by His wounds you have been healed.” In Isaiah 53, Jesus’ future life on earth was foretold in the clearest of terms, to include his eventual torture and death: “But He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds (stripes) we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5; 1 Peter 2:24).

Although these two verses are central to the topic of healing, they are often misunderstood and misapplied. The word “healed” as translated from both Hebrew and Greek, can mean either spiritual or physical healing. However, the contexts of Isaiah 53 and 1 Peter 2 make it clear that they are referring to spiritual healing, not physical. “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed” (1 Peter 2:24). The verse is referring to sin and righteousness, not sickness and disease. Therefore, being “healed” in both these verses is speaking of being forgiven and saved, not being physically healed.

It all started two months ago.  I woke up one morning and I started bleeding. I knew it wasn't time for the usual monthly flow. I was a little worried, but I was also a little relaxed because I thought the flow came a little early this time.  My menstrual cycle usually takes three days at most but this time, it was going beyond three days and it was not stopping.

I told my parents and they advised that I go to the hospital and complain. I went immediately, the doctor just told me that I have a lot of sugar in my system and he gave me some drugs which I used religiously but still, the flow continued.

I told my parents again and they took me for a scan and all kinds of tests, but still the doctors couldn't say what the problem was. They continued giving me all kinds of drugs, nothing worked. It continued flowing; it started in February and we were already in March, nothing changed. My parents stopped taking me to the hospital because they knew it was no longer a physical battle. They started praying. Meanwhile our fasting programme was on. I don't usually fast but I decided to take the fasting seriously.

The last day of the workers fast, I noticed I didn't wake up as I used to since the flow started; there was no flow anymore. I didn't want to shout and get excited just in case it returned. So I rushed to the hospital and told them. The doctor said it was not possible that the flow could have stopped by itself and they advised that I should wait for a month and see if it comes back. If it doesn’t, then they would believe I was fine.

I waited for the one month they asked me to wait but already I knew I was healed. After one month, the doctors couldn't say what exactly happened. All they kept saying was that it was a miracle. Since the fasting programme ended till now (which is over 2 months), I have not had the bleeding again.

Glory to God! Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever! I am healed.

Accessing Heaven's Order of Financial Fortune by Divine Favor - Bishop Oyedepo Sermon

   

Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come. For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour the dust thereof. So the heathen shall fear the name of the Lord, and all the kings of the earth thy glory (Psalms 102:13-15).

We understand from scriptures that favour is the mother of all fortune, financial fortune inclusive. For instance, after 430 years of servitude, poverty, lack and want, God transferred the wealth of Egypt to the Israelites by divine favour. As it is written: And the Lord gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them such things as they required. And they spoiled the Egyptians (Exodus 12:36; see also Exodus 3:21).

It is important to understand that nothing makes a high flyer in the Kingdom like favour. For instance, it was favour that distinguished Joseph in Potiphar’s house and Potiphar made him lord over all that he had. It was that same favour that made Joseph an official in the prison where he was an inmate. Furthermore, it was favour that promoted him to the palace. Daniel also found favour with the chief eunuch and that opened up his destiny. Furthermore, David also found favour in the sight of the Lord. He said: Lord, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong… (Psalms 30:7; see also Genesis 39:5, 21; Daniel 1:9).

That is how powerful favour is, as it will launch anyone into realms of financial dominion, among others.

But, what is in divine favour?

• Divine favour promotes: Divine favour engenders supernatural promotion. This was exemplified in the life of Joseph, as he experienced multiple change of levels until he got to the palace. Favour is a promoter and it changes people’s level supernaturally(Genesis 39:5, 21).
• It triggers breakthroughs: Concerning Israel, the Bible says: For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them (Psalms 44:3; see also Isaiah 54:1-4).
• It releases miracle marriage: It is written: Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord (Proverbs 18:22).
• It releases miracle babies: It was said of Mary: “Thou art highly favoured among women” and by that, the laws of nature were suspended and she brought forth the miracle child, Jesus (Luke 1:26-32).
• It releases miracle jobs (Matthew 20:1-6).
• Favour saves (Ephesians 1:3, 2:5).
• It defends (Job 1:8-9; Zechariah 2:8).
• It makes great (1 Corinthians 15:10).

However, salvation is a fundamental requirement for walking in divine favour. This is because anyone who is not born again is considered spiritually dead and dead men do not require favour. Therefore, until a man is born again, he is not a candidate for favour. It is written:

For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield(Psalms 5:12).

At redemption, we became the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus and divine favour only pertains to the redeemed. Thus, the above scripture can be read as: The Lord shall compass the redeemed about with favour as with a shield (see also 2 Corinthians 5:21).

Erroneously, the Church of Christ has interpreted grace to be unmerited favour and that is why many people never experience favour. It is important to know that ‘grace’ simply means divine favour and only the grace (favour) of salvation is unmerited. This is because sin is inherent in the human nature and the sinless Saviour (Jesus) delivered us from it by His Blood. As it is written: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God (Ephesians 2:8; see also Titus 2:11).

Therefore, the favour of salvation is the only free favour that we have from God. Every other form of favour we require, will only be released on the basis of meeting the conditions for them. For instance, all dimensions of life-transforming and level-changing favour will require the following channels:

Addiction to Kingdom promotion: We discover from scriptures that serving God’s interests on the earth is our launching pad into a world of unlimited favour. It is written: If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures (Job 36:11 see also Exodus 23:25-26; 1 Chronicles 29:3-6; Psalms 102:13-15).
That means as we serve the interest of God’s Kingdom on the earth and engage in Kingdom advancement endeavours, we commit God to lavish us with continuous favour in return.

We must note that all-round favour is only accessible through love-motivated, love-inspired and delightsome service. This is because the more our investment towards Kingdom advancement, the larger our financial coast.

Proven love for God: We must recognize that though redemption qualifies us to walk in favour, it is the love of God at work in us that launches us into its reality. When we are truly in love with God, we manifest divinity which is the realm of unquestionable dominion. It is written:
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him (1 John 4:16).

When our love for God is perfected, we become divinity personified and we are filled with all the fullness of God. This makes us an embodiment of favour. That is why every man in love with God is a candidate for His favour. As it is written: Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him (1 Corinthians 2:9).

Solomon’s love for God launched him into the realm of heaven’s order of financial fortune. That is, it was his love for God that qualified him for favour; it was not demanded (1 Kings 3:3-4, 12-13).

Amazing Testimonies via The Mystery of Feet Washing

BLOOD CANCER DESTROYED VIA FEET-WASHING!

“Between 2010 and January 2013, I spent almost 75% ample time in the hospital. I was diagnosed withfull-blown “BLOOD CANCER" precisely LYMPHOMA. I went through series of chemotherapy treatments in 2011 to clear the cancer cells from my body. I almost died on the hospital bed after a strong dose of two days chemotherapy and four days full body radiation with bone marrow transplant.

On January 11, 2013, I laid lifeless on the hospital bed. I connected to one of the services in Canaanland via the internet and it was a Feet Washing Service. When I heard Bishop Oyedepo’s voice, it energized me. I stood to follow his instructions to get a bowl of water for the feet washing. Meanwhile, I was in excruciating pain, but was desperate for my healing.

During the feet washing session, I dipped my feet into the bowl of water but couldn't bend to wash them with my hands. All I did was rub and scrub one foot with the other and said ‘Amen’ to the Bishop’s prayer. Right there, I slept off for about 20minutes. When I woke up, I felt a tremendous change in my body―the pains vanished, my legs became lighter and I felt real peace and joy.

Amazingly, the colour of the water in the bowl had completely changed to a palm wine-like colour. Immediately, I knew God had rescued me. I am finally healed!” ---Mr. Bidemi

DELIVERED FROM THREE-YEAR PREGNANCY!

Healing: God Healed An Entire Family From AIDs Hallellujah!

   

“You'd better brace yourself for what I am about to tell you,” I said to a friend of mine as we drove along a road in town.  He assured me he could take anything I said to him – but when I told him what I'm about to tell you – he nearly wrecked the car!


My wife and I just became serious Christians in August last year. My wife was brought up as a Catholic and I as an Anglican would periodically go to Church on Sundays as we had time (like we were taught to do by our parents a long time ago).  It was just a religious function but God remained more or less a distant hazy concept. I was not always like that.  In my younger days I had confessed Christ at a young age but somewhere in High School, I abandoned the faith.

Last April, everything was looking pretty good in our lives.  My wife was expecting our second child and although our son was showing symptoms of asthma we were hopeful that he would outgrow it.

But then one day in December as I was returning from a business trip, my wife met me at the airport with terrible news.   During a routine pregnancy check up, her doctor had administered an HIV test along with other blood-work.  The HIV test came back POSITIVE!  The doctor wanted to begin administering drugs immediately but the cost of these drugs here when compared to our family income was prohibitive.

I was stunned…  Our life was basically over!  If my wife had it, it was a foregone conclusion that I had it too.  There is a high infection rate of AIDS here in Nigeria (about 40% in urban centers) and social stigmatization is high.  When you add to that - the cost of drugs for us, and our boy's asthma - this was literally - a death sentence for my entire family!

Just when I thought that things couldn't get any worse, my son began having life threatening asthma attacks.  We didn't know what to do, and didn't know where to go for help.  I lost all hope and began thinking of suicide.
I began searching for information on AIDS and asthma on the Internet when it hit me that our situation was clearly way beyond any earthly intervention.  So, in desperation I entered the search words “Faith” and “Healing” and the first article I clicked open was “Faith and Healing” by Tim Greenwood!


We both read this powerful article - a testimony of Tim’s healing from his death sentence of terminal heart disease.  PLUS, in it – Tim taught ‘step-by-step’ how he, by believing and applying what the Bible said about healing, received complete healing.  Now, we desperately wanted to believe that what Tim taught - would work for us.  So, during a particularly bad asthma attack one night – we put the teaching to work for our son.

Immediately all asthma symptoms left our son – and did not return!  Our son was healed!  Our faith soared!  For the first time we now believed that nothing was going to hold us back!  We wrote for Tim’s free book “Walking In Faith,” sent in a prayer request and began devouring every article on the Tim Greenwood Ministries (TGM) website (www.tgm.org).  Plus, Tim’s wife began corresponding with us via email, teaching and encouraging us!

My wife’s condition was rather desperate especially with the baby coming. We did not have time to mull this over any longer.  We had to believe and act and act now!  I went in for HIV testing believing and confessing that the test results would be negative.  With the devil screaming in my ear that the test would be positive – as an act of faith, I bought a card for my doctor and wrote in it “Thank you for your help and assistance. I have collected my results and they are negative,” and I sealed the envelope.

When I got the results at the lab counter I wanted to hug the elderly lady.  NEGATIVE! Thank you God!  I was healed!

Ok, we had come this far by the encouragement we got from the emails and numerous articles from the TGM website. Given my suicidal thoughts when we first learned of the diagnosis and the great hope we now had, I was evident that God had clearly worked at least two miracles in our lives.  Now we all focused in on healing for my wife.

We kept praying. The matter became more or less a prayer for a good report from her next set of lab tests, and standing in faith that our child will breasted as it was God's wish for babies to breast feed, and that my wife will not have to take any drugs on account of another negative lab test.

Daily we got into serious praise, worship and prayers in our bedroom for at least one hour. In the morning, our alarm clock is set to 5am, giving as a minimum of another one hour of prayer, praise and worship before I would start to prepare to go to work. We worked this system both weekdays and weekends. We now knew and believed what the Bible said about our healing, the importance of what we say and how to act on our faith.

In the next visit to the doctor, the doctor was quite adamant - my wife would have to start on the drugs. My wife was just as adamant.  She told the doctor about my results, and that she was no longer infected with AIDS.  He was quite candid - patients once they tested positive on this test - remained positive.  But we knew that we are not ordinary; we are children of GOD, healed by the stripes of Jesus, praise and glory to His mighty Name!  And, rather than argue, the doctor agreed to do fresh HIV tests on my wife.

All the tests came back negative! My wife was healed!
Needless to say the doctor had a hard time explaining this.  But we know our God is our healer:  He healed our son, my wife and myself—also our baby (who we named after Tim’s wife) was born completely healthy.

As you might guess, this was a head-spinning day. We kept smiling at everyone and at home we could not sleep. We nearly prayed and praised the whole night and will continue to do so.  From no hope to great faith!  From a death sentence, to life and life more abundantly!
