Christ is the head of the Church and He thus has the authority to judge His own Church.
How dare I say that the Church has a problem? I mean not to rule the Church with Christ, but just as the church in Pergamos held unto the doctrine of Balaam and the doctrine of the Nicholitans (Rev. 2:12-17), the church in Africa has held unto strange doctrines.
These doctrines have made Christianity in our part of the world obscure, and thus instead of attracting the lost it is rather turning many away, even believers are becoming unbelievers.
The church in Africa,
- Focuses on prosperity than salvation. Prosperity is not bad at all but Christianity is about salvation of our souls (Phil. 2:12). God wants us to prosper but not at the expense of the prosperity or salvation of our souls (3 John. 1) [Read First things First]
- Is intensively attracted to spiritual gifts than the Holy Spirit. Everyone craves for one gift or another (which is good) but is not really interested in the Holy Spirit.
- Measures anointing by how often people fall and roll on the ground in a man of God’s ministration. Men of God with such ministrations are called “powerful”. An anointed man of God is one who disciples souls for Christ not one who causes people to fall and roll. [Read 7 Fold Anointing of Cyrus]
- Believes in avenging her enemies by praying for their demise. My question is, if we pray for all our enemies to die who will get into the kingdom of God? (Mt. 5:44; Lk. 27, 35) [Read Be Perfect]
- Is a cheerful giver which gives out of compulsion or fear of calamity (2 Cor. 9:7)
- Is crowd-driven than Christ-driven. The major concern is to see people flood the church auditoriums rather than being unrelenting to help each congregant mature unto the stature of Christ. [Read The Generation of Self]
- Gives as though it is in a barter trade system with God. For example, "God I give this amount to support your work so reward me with this or that."
- Is so superstitious. Such that it blames all her woes on witchcraft and ancestral curses. Even though most of the predicament results from laziness and (or) folly and (or) ignorance.
- Loves soul winning but are negligent of discipleship. The general behavior is “Get them born again, bring them to church and leave to adapt to the system.”
- Is very concerned about outward adornment (i.e. wear this or that) than rendering the heart pure before God. (Joel 2:13, Mt. 5:8)
- Exalts anointed preachers (forgetting they are only vessels) than revering theAnointer of those vessels or preachers.
- Compromises so much so that it is tossed to and fro by traditions, politics and so-called influential people.
BONUS: He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches in Africa and the world at large. (paraphrased)[Rev. 2:7a, 11a, 17a, 29; 3:6, 13, 22.
